Throwback Thursday: Kegs and Quinny

August 20, 2015

Looking into the Panther archives and stumbled onto this classic Panther match:
Quinny - Kegs 1998-99

It was the 1998-99 cricket season against Glen Iris.

The Panthers made 302 from 34 overs going at 8.88 runs per over. Kegs and Quinny put on 133* for the 6th wicket which is the 2nd best known partnership in the clubs history.

Quinny tonned up and Kegs finished unbeaten on 88 (5 consecutive 6’s and blocked out the 6th ball claiming he didn’t want to break the bowler’s spirits).

Kegs, then captain, has never made a ton and sacrificed individual glory to declare and push for the outright (which they achieved).

We can hardly feel too bad for Kegs, his season statistics were 281 runs @ 140.5 and 36 wickets @ 6.97!

Quinny that year averaged 71 runs and unlucky to not win the batting averages.
